Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data Long Communications Ltd ("we", "us") collects through this website, why, and what rights you have over it. We've tried to write it in the same plain English as the rest of the site.
Who we are
Long Communications Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. We're a private limited company registered in England & Wales, company number 17458082, registered office 128 City Road, London, United Kingdom, EC1V 2NX.
Contact: ben.long@long-communications.com — this is the fastest way to reach us about anything in this policy, including exercising your rights below.
What we collect, and why
Information you give us directly. When you fill in the booking or enquiry form on this site, we collect your name, work email address, business name, phone number (if you provide it), the topic you'd like help with, and any additional notes you choose to add. We use this to reply to you, arrange a call, and — if you go on to become a client — to deliver and manage that work.
Information collected automatically. Like any website, basic technical information (such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited) passes through our hosting provider's server logs as part of running the site securely. We do not run analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies on this site, and we don't build marketing profiles from your visit.
Our lawful basis for processing
- Consent — when you voluntarily submit the enquiry or booking form.
- Legitimate interests — responding to your enquiry and keeping the site secure and working properly.
- Contract — once you engage us for consultancy work, to the extent needed to deliver and manage that engagement.
We don't use your data for marketing emails unless you've separately opted in to that, and we never sell or rent your personal data to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of third-party services to run this site and process enquiries:
- Netlify, Inc. — hosts this website and processes form submissions (the booking form you fill in is delivered to us via Netlify Forms).
- Google Fonts — this site loads typefaces from Google's font service. Your browser makes a direct request to Google's servers to fetch these, which may include your IP address.
We don't share your enquiry data with any other third party without telling you, except where we're required to by law.
International transfers
Netlify and Google may process data on servers outside the UK and EEA, including in the United States. Where that happens, those providers rely on appropriate legal safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data to UK standards.
How long we keep it
Enquiry and booking data is kept only as long as needed to respond to you. If that enquiry turns into client work, we keep the related records for the length of the engagement plus a period afterwards to meet our legal and accounting obligations — normally up to six years — after which it's deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy of it (access);
- ask us to correct inaccurate data (rectification);
- ask us to delete your data, where there's no good reason for us to keep it (erasure);
- ask us to restrict or object to certain processing;
- ask for your data in a portable format; and
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis for processing.
To exercise any of these, email ben.long@long-communications.com. If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Cookies
This site does not use analytics, advertising, or marketing cookies. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy and, where required, ask for your consent first.
Children's privacy
This site is aimed at businesses, not children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
Keeping this policy up to date
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we start using a new tool that processes personal data. The "last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the current version.
